Sopranos

The series I chose for this blog is an older series but definitely worth a look if you are a fan of movies like “The Godfather”, “Casino”, or “Goodfellas”, and want to see a television series that pays homage to these classic mafia flicks.  The series I am referring to is The Sopranos, and it recently became available to view for free if you are an Amazon Prime member.  Even if you are not an Amazon Prime member I would still recommend trying to find a way to watch this series if you are a fan of any of the movies I mentioned or the mafia genre.
The Sopranos is a television series about a fictional family, the patriarch of which is also the patriarch of an organized crime family operating in New Jersey with ties to New York.  The name of this patriarch is Tony Soprano.  The show focuses on his trials and tribulations, and oftentimes the issues that arise from his relationship with his “illegal” family and how they affect his traditional family.  The complexity of The Sopranos i.e. the plotlines associated with all of Tony Soprano’s associates coupled with the plotlines of his family members, was appreciated by its fans and made the series better but also made it hard for those who had not viewed previous seasons to understand what was going on.

The Sopranos aired from January 10, 1999 until June 10, 2007 and the series is comprised of 6 seasons for a total of 86 episodes.   There were multiple Emmy Nominations and awards received by many of the cast and crew.

Breaking Bad

Breaking Bad was one of favorite television series I have ever watched. It was a great action packed crime drama that was full of suspense. Breaking Bad was written and produced by Vince Gilligan. Breaking Bad won a lot of Emmy’s and nominations and, was all around a good show. It sucks that it had to end after five seasons, and I bet a lot of people wanted another 1 or 2 seasons like I did. Luckily Vince Gilligan is going to make a spinoff off Breaking Bad. The spinoff is highly anticipated and a lot of people have been talking about it ever since Vince Gilligan announced it.
The TV series is going to be called Better Call Saul. This TV show is going to be about Saul Goodman the unethical lawyer from breaking bad, and I also know Mike Ehrmantraut will be in it too another person from Breaking Bad’s cast. The series is going to be filmed in Albuquerque New Mexico. They will start to film the show next month in June, and it’s going to premiere on AMC in November. I think Better Call Saul is going to be a good show based on the Emmy’s and nominations Vince Gilligan’s previous show Breaking Bad got and, I recommend you to follow up and watch Better Call Saul.

24

The TV series 24 is coming back for their 9th season. The season premiere was on May 5, and three episodes have already aired. However it’s still not too late to catch up because all 3 episodes from season 9 are on fox.com. The 9th season was highly anticipated because of previous awards this show and actors have won in the previous seasons. In 2001 Kiefer Sutherland won a Golden Globe award for the Best Actor in a Drama Series, and in 2003 the show won another Golden Globe award the Best Drama Series. 24 won a total of 20 Emmy awards and, 2 Golden Globe awards.
24 is a great action packed thriller occurring in real time with 24 episodes (comprising a 24 hour day) in every season. The main character is Jack Bauer who works for CTU (short for Counter Terrorist Unit) a fictional federal agency tasked with detecting and preventing terrorist attacks. Each season is based on a day in Jack’s career where he was faced with seemingly impossible obstacles.
In my opinion 24 is a great show for anyone interested in a suspenseful action packed television series with a side of drama.  The new episodes will be aired on Fox Mondays at 9 PM EST.  Being a 24 junkie I would recommend calling in sick for 10 days and watch the complete series stopping only for restroom breaks, pizza and chinese deliveries, and sleep.  However, if this is not feasible for you that’s fine because watching the new season doesn’t require you to have watched the first 8 seasons.
Anyway, that about sums up what I have to say about 24, and if that isn’t enough of a reason to check it out the Emmy nominations and awards received by the cast and crew should be.  Check it out and you will wonder how you lived this long without Jack, that’s a fact.  No wait, that’s a fact Jack…  Or is it?  You decide.

First blog

Hello, my name is Jeff; I’m 18 years old, and I’m in Pre-engineering at Diamond Oaks. My home school is Oak Hills High school. Some of my interests on my free time is going to the movies, watching TV shows, hanging out with friends, riding bikes, listening to music, and just chilling. I am making a blog about TV series. I like watching TV series more than watching actual movies. The core theme of this blog is to tell you about the TV series I’m currently watching and the ones I have already watched and really enjoyed. Also I’ll tell you about the TV series I hated and why. The TV series I usually like are comedies, thrillers, documentary, cartoons, and stoner. The TV shows I usually hate are soap operas, and dramas. Some of my favorite TV series are South Park, Trailer Park Boys, Dexter, The Wire, Breaking Bad, Weeds, The Big Bang Theory, and Family Guy. But my all-time favorite TV shows is Breaking Bad. Breaking bad is a television series about a high school teacher (Walter White) diagnosed with cancer must find ways to make ends meet, so he starts manufacturing meth with his former student Jesse Pinkman. I like this show because it has a lot of unsuspected twists and turn. Anyone who has not seen this show definitely should. I guarantee you will not be disappointed.
